Pellets constitute important part in guinea pig nutrition. Good pellets provide many essential micronutrients. As on date, please only use the following three brands for pellets for your guinea pigs: Zupreem Timothy hay pellets Oxbow guinea pig food Versala lage complete cavia Other brands like Boltz are not suitable as they have dairy and guinea pigs are lactose intolerant. Also, things like “Petlife” should be given only as treat (2-3 per day). Do not give meusli based pellets as guinea pigs tend to eat only the coloured parts and ignore the more fibrous Timothy hay pellets. It encourages selective eating which isn’t good.
